About the job

Position
Two-person live-in domestic team for a private farm / rural property.
Household
Two adults, with no children living at home. Pets & animals: The property has two dogs and other farm animals. Days & Hours: Ideally, the preferred working arrangement would be from Tuesday to Saturday, with Sunday and Monday off. This is the schedule the household has worked with successfully for many years and is the arrangement the family is most comfortable with. However, the family is flexible and, if this schedule were a difficulty for the right candidates, they could also consider a more conventional Monday to Saturday arrangement. The position is full-time, based on approximately 40 working hours per week per person, with flexibility according to the needs of the property, animals and employers.
Start Date
Ideally January 2027. Exact dates are still to be confirmed. The selected team will be replacing a long-standing member of staff who is expected to retire at the beginning of 2027. Whenever possible, the family would like to arrange a handover period during which the new team and the current employee work together, allowing him to explain the routines, systems, maintenance requirements and day-to-day functioning of the property before his departure.
Salary
From €1,600 per month per person in 12 payments + Social Security, based on approximately 40 working hours per week per person. Depending on experience, skills and the overall profile of the two candidates, the family may consider a higher salary. Private accommodation within the property is provided. In principle, the selected team may also live there with their own pet, provided there is a good fit with the animals already living on the property and with the general functioning of the household.

Duties

  • The two selected candidates will be jointly responsible for the smooth running of both the house and the farm, organizing and dividing the responsibilities between themselves according to their individual strengths, experience and preferences.
  • Together, they will be expected to cover the full range of responsibilities required for the property, including: General and deep cleaning of the home; Laundry, high-quality ironing and wardrobe organization; Care of fine furnishings, antiques and delicate materials; Grocery shopping and management of household supplies; Occasional kitchen support and preparation of seasonal produce from the farm; Preparing the home when there are guests or special events; Helping with the feeding and general care of the farm animals alongside the principal farmer; Keeping animal areas clean, organized and well maintained; Gardening and general care of the areas surrounding the house; Supporting with general farm tasks when necessary; Minor repairs and basic property maintenance; Pool upkeep and general supervision of household systems and installations; Receiving and coordinating external contractors or technicians when necessary and supervising their work; Driving, running errands and carrying out occasional journeys for the household; Overseeing the cleaning, maintenance and general condition of the property’s vehicles; Remaining attentive to the general security, surveillance and overall condition of the property.
  • The family does not intend to rigidly assign specific duties to one person or the other.
  • They are looking for two people who work naturally as a team, share responsibilities and organize themselves efficiently according to the needs of the property.
  • The initial handover period will be particularly valuable, as the current employee has extensive knowledge of the property and will be able to introduce the new team to its routines, systems, suppliers, animals and practical day-to-day organization.
  • The aim is to ensure a smooth transition and give the new team a strong understanding of how the property operates from the outset.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working together in private households, farms, country estates or similar rural properties will be highly valued.
  • It is very important that both candidates genuinely enjoy country life and are comfortable working on a property with animals, as this is not simply a private residence but an active rural environment.
  • The family is looking for two people who are responsible, well-mannered, positive, hardworking, discreet, practical and highly autonomous, capable of noticing what needs to be done and organizing their work without constant supervision.
  • They should communicate well, support one another, integrate naturally into the employers’ routine and be genuinely interested in a stable, long-term position.
  • At least one of the two must hold a valid driving licence and be a confident driver.
  • It would be very positively valued if the second person also holds a driving licence, has a licence from another country that can be exchanged or recognized in Spain, or is currently in the process of validating or converting it. Good Spanish communication skills are required.
  • Good verifiable references and valid authorization to work in Spain are essential.
