Household members

The owners are an elderly couple who visit the estate occasionally, especially between April and October and during holiday periods. At times their children also accompany them.

Pets

A few hens, four sheep and a donkey. Their care is not a major burden, but it will be necessary to feed them, supervise them and attend to their basic needs.

As soon as the right couple is found.

Location

Province of Toledo. The estate is located in a rural area, approximately 7 km from the road entrance to the house and about 20 minutes by car to the nearest village.

Salary

1,600 euros/month for each person in 12 payments, or 1,400 euros monthly for each person in 14 payments + Social Security. Accommodation within the estate is provided.

Days and hours

Live-in arrangement, with a highly variable work pattern depending on the time of year. During periods when the owners are at the estate, especially during holidays and the spring-summer season, activity will be more intense and it will be necessary to work weekends as well. When the property is empty, the pace is calmer, and although the couple must continue looking after the maintenance and smooth running of the whole estate, those days worked in busier periods can be compensated.

Duties

• The couple will be jointly responsible for the comprehensive care of the estate and for ensuring that both the main house and the rest of the property are always kept in perfect condition.
• He will mainly be in charge of exterior maintenance, garden, irrigation, pool and minor repairs.
• They are looking for a handy person, capable of resolving basic plumbing, electrical, painting or general maintenance issues and, when it is necessary to call external professionals, contacting them, explaining the issue correctly and supervising the work.
• He will also collaborate in the daily care of the animals and run errands when necessary.
• She will mainly be in charge of the interior of the main house: cleaning, tidiness, laundry, good ironing, family cooking and general household organization.
• When the owners are present, she must attend to their usual needs and prepare home-cooked meals, without the need for formal table service.
• Both must support each other and adapt to the needs of each moment.
• The estate also has a small country house that is rented out occasionally.
• When guests finish their stay, they must ensure it is left completely clean, tidy and ready for the next occupants.
• While there are guests, they will not have to provide personal service to them, although they must be available to resolve any occasional incident or maintenance problem that may arise.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a caretaker couple on estates, country houses or rural properties of similar characteristics.
• They are looking for a responsible, stable, hardworking, positive couple of absolute trust, with a high degree of autonomy and genuine knowledge of what caring for an estate throughout the year involves.
• They must be able to organize their own work, identify needs, anticipate problems and keep the property cared for and in order without waiting for constant instructions.
• It is essential that they understand there will be very quiet periods and others with much activity, especially when the owners, family members are present or during holidays, and that they know how to adapt with a good attitude to both rhythms.
• At least one of the two must hold a driving licence, as it will be necessary to do shopping, run errands and travel.
• It is also important that they genuinely enjoy country life and feel comfortable living in a quiet and relatively isolated location.
• The family is looking for a couple with a good character, practical sense, commitment and a desire to stay long term, interested in settling for many years and becoming people of complete trust for the owners.
• Verifiable good references and a valid work permit.
