👤 Job type: House manager — running the household and the family's day-to-day operations
📍 Location: Ciutat Diagonal area, Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona
👫 Household members: An international family: two adults, a 2-year-old girl and a baby due at the end of November. A nanny also works in the home and would report to the house manager.
🐕 Pets: None.
🕒 Days and hours: 30 to 40 hours per week, with greater availability required during November and December. Minimum duration of seven months, renewable.
📅 Start date: 1st of October
💼 Duties: This is a management position: the house manager does not carry out the domestic work herself, but is responsible for making sure it is done well. Running the house means selecting, hiring and supervising the providers who handle the cleaning, windows, gardening, pool, maintenance and minor repairs, and holding them to the standard expected. Provisioning: overseeing the grocery, household and children's shopping and setting up recurring deliveries. Utilities and services: managing internet, electricity, water, insurance and supplier contracts. Administrative matters: town hall registration, booking appointments, medical appointments, dealing with clinics and insurers, and the children's documentation. Transport: organising transfers and airport runs, coordinating drivers and making travel bookings. Managing the household staff: schedules, cover and task allocation for the nanny and the rest of the team. And budget and reporting: expense control, advances, receipts and a monthly report to the family.
✅ Requirements: Native or bilingual Russian, and professional-level Spanish, sufficient to deal by telephone with public administration, clinics and suppliers; Catalan and English are valued. A minimum of two years' experience as a house manager, family manager, office manager or in operational management, including managing staff and suppliers. Resident in Barcelona or the surrounding area for at least three years, with practical knowledge of local administration. An established network of suppliers in Barcelona is particularly valued. A category B driving licence held for at least three years, and willingness to drive; your own vehicle is valued. Living within approximately 30 minutes of Esplugues de Llobregat. Confident with digital tools: messaging, online appointments, online payments and expense sheets. The family is looking for absolute discretion, with a confidentiality agreement to be signed, genuine autonomy in solving problems, flexibility when priorities change, and rigour in managing money. Documentation in order to work in Spain.
