Days and hours

Monday to Saturday, with the usual time off on Saturday at midday. Working hours and rest periods in accordance with current regulations, with some flexibility by mutual agreement. Availability to occasionally accompany the family during their holidays or a weekend, by prior agreement and as a paid extra, will be positively valued.

Duties

  • General management and upkeep of the home, including thorough cleaning of bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, living rooms and common areas, organization of wardrobes and family spaces, washing and ironing of clothes, changing sheets and towels, and care of the home's garments and textiles.
  • The house is very active daily, as both parents work from home and the family usually has breakfast, lunch and dinner at home, so it is important to maintain a good standard of cleanliness, order and organization throughout the day.
  • One of the main responsibilities will be the daily preparation of breakfasts, lunches and dinners, with special attention to traditional home cooking, both Spanish and Colombian, as the mother is Colombian.
  • The family may teach their recipes and preferences, so we are looking for a person who enjoys cooking, has a good touch in the kitchen and knows how to organize meals for a family of five.
  • They will also be responsible for keeping the kitchen clean and organized, monitoring the food available and helping to plan meals.
  • Ironing is part of the regular tasks, although the volume of dress clothing is moderate because both parents work from home.
  • A childcare educator who lives out also works in the home; she comes in to attend to the children and is mainly responsible for their care and attention.
  • Therefore, childcare will not be the main responsibility of the live-in housekeeper, although they will need to collaborate with the educator and the parents when necessary.
  • It will be essential to have a good relationship with the children, enjoy their company and be able to look after them occasionally when the parents are working or have meetings, supervising them, playing with them and attending to their needs with patience and affection.
  • Occasionally it may be necessary to pick up one of the children from school or help with their routines.
  • We are looking for a person who integrates naturally into the dynamics of an active family home, who knows how to work as a team with the parents and the educator, and who helps make the organization and daily life of the whole family easier.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a live-in housekeeper in private homes, with good knowledge of cleaning, household organization, washing, ironing and, especially, traditional home cooking.
  • Knowledge of Colombian cuisine will be positively valued (although not essential), as the mother is Colombian.
  • Spanish as a mother tongue or an equivalent level of proficiency is essential, to allow communication with the children and parents in a completely natural way.
  • Experience and a good rapport with young children, patience, an affectionate nature and the ability to relate to them positively are essential, even when they are restless or need attention.
  • We are looking for a cheerful, calm, responsible, honest, discreet, organized, hardworking, proactive and resourceful person, who enjoys both household tasks and living with a family with children.
  • They must have initiative, know how to organize their responsibilities independently, follow the family's preferences, collaborate with the childcare educator and adapt to a home where the parents and children spend a lot of time.
  • The family is used to very long-lasting working relationships with the people who work in their home, having previously employed housekeepers who stayed with them for many years, even until their retirement.
  • This stability is precisely what they wish to find again: a person who wants to join their team, build a relationship of trust and remain working with the family for many years.
  • They are not looking only for someone who carries out household tasks, but for a committed person who works as a team with them, makes their daily life easier and contributes to the smooth running of the home.
  • For their part, they wish to offer a respectful, friendly and flexible working environment, in which the housekeeper feels comfortable, valued and willing to continue in the long term.
  • Excellent, verifiable work references will be especially valued, as will having worked for several years with the same family.
  • Having documentation in order and a work permit in Spain is essential.
